TRAC Fellows provide effective peer tutoring for students and consultation services for faculty who include writing in their courses across the disciplines, and we need your help to identify desirable candidates for our new class of fellows.
Faculty support for the program has always been excellent, and I hope you'll help again this spring semester by nominating your promising students to join this special group of trained and highly motivated peer writing tutors.
Moreover, you should know that TRAC Fellows in all majors consistently report that being in the program enhances their own academic success.
Nominating your students
Who are your best current and recent students, those who have shown special abilities in writing, oral communication, leadership skills, organization, and reliability? These are the qualities we seek in candidates for the program.
To nominate students for the TRAC program, simply send their names to me at grs206@lehigh.edu. Feel free to use a spreadsheet or other attached document if you have a large number of nominations.
Please try to send your nominations by Tuesday, February 28th so I can reach out to them well in advance of the application deadline.
Nominated students are under no obligation; they will be sent a special invitation to apply to the program and will be exempt, by virtue of your nomination, from the standard student and faculty references required of non-nominated applicants. We will also hold special information sessions for your nominees.
Candidates for the program must have at least one full year remaining as undergraduates at Lehigh.
PLEASE NOTE: If you feel you don’t know enough about the writing skills of your excellent students who are otherwise good communicators, feel free to nominate them anyway. We’ll assess their writing skills through the application process, and participation in the program will improve their writing significantly.
To learn more about the program, see our web page.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
Thank you, as always, for your support.
Sincerely,
Gregory M. Skutches, Ph.D.
Director, Writing Across the Curriculum
