The Fellowship provides $5,000 to full-time faculty (of any rank or any discipline) who want to use visualization (geospatial, volumetric, temporal, multidimensional, virtual, etc.) in their research and teaching. The Fellowship will support planning and implementation of a course using the Center for Innovation in Teaching and Learning Visualization Lab.
Successful applicants for the Digital Scholarship Faculty Fellowship will collaborate with the Center for Innovation in Teaching and Learning staff and focus on the following:
Develop assignment(s) using the tools and technologies available in the Visualization Lab;
Address a scholarly question through new research methods or new ways of interrogating or representing research;
Invite collaboration ranging from undergraduate students to senior researchers;
The Fellowship should result in a course description and an assignment(s) incorporating data visualization for a class to be taught in Fall 2018 or Spring 2019. The Fellowship can support release time*, stipend, and/or a graduate assistant. Additionally, priority will be given for access to the Visualization lab.
The Fellowship does not support the following: creation or conversion of a scholarly journal, conferences or professional meetings, travel, acquisition of computer equipment or software, preparation or publication of articles or textbooks. At the conclusion of the funding period, Fellows will present their work at a campus-wide Center for Innovation in Teaching and Learning event in Spring 2019.
